John P. Corrigan
Mr. Corrigan is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Financial Planner and is an attorney admitted to practice in several jurisdictions. Mr. Corrigan holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree in accounting from Pace University, and a juris doctor from Fordham University Law School. He is also a candidate to obtain an LLM degree in taxation.
In 1996, Mr. Corrigan became a Principal of The Breakwater Group, LLC, a multi-faceted business advisory firm which provides a full range of financial and management consulting services for privately owned businesses and high-net worth individual clients.
In 1992, Mr. Corrigan joined Fund American Enterprises Holdings, Inc. as Director of Taxes. Fund American, the former parent company of Firemans Fund Insurance Company, is a NYSE listed holding company which has operating interests in insurance, investment and mortgage banking companies. Mr. Corrigan was responsible for all legal, tax and employee benefit functions at Fund American, including the management of several legislative and lobbying initiatives in Washington. He was a key participant in several large due diligence processes and worked closely with executive management in the development of complex legal and financial strategies. During 1993, Mr. Corrigan was instrumental in the completion of a corporate reorganization that resulted in the creation and spin-off of White River Corporation to the shareholders of Fund American. Mr. Corrigan became Vice President, Corporate Secretary and Tax Counsel of White River, which became a separate publicly-traded investment holding company. While at White River, Mr. Corrigan was responsible for all legal, tax and employee benefit issues, including acquisition due diligence, divestiture of non-strategic operations, the design and implementation of several executive compensation plans and SEC regulatory compliance relating to White Rivers money management operations.
In 1988, Mr. Corrigan became Assistant Tax Director of Frank B. Hall & Co., Inc., formerly a New York Stock Exchange listed company and one of the nations largest international insurance brokerage and benefit consulting organizations. While with F.B. Hall, Mr. Corrigan designed and implemented tax strategies for the companys foreign and domestic operations. He was also a key contributor in Halls mergers and acquisition activities.
Mr. Corrigan began his career in 1982, when he joined Touche Ross & Co., a predecessor firm to Deloitte & Touche, LLP, one of the worlds largest international accounting and consulting firms. While employed by Touche Ross he specialized in serving large multinational corporations, both public and private, as well as high- net worth individuals in the development of complex tax planning strategies. He served clients in the financial services, real estate, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, publishing and manufacturing industries. Mr. Corrigan, as co-director, helped establish the Tri-state Sports and Entertainment practice for the firm.
